| Volunteer! |
With more than 2,000 miles of hiking trails to maintain throughout the state of Florida, the volunteers of the Florida Trail Association have a big civic responsibility...and you're invited to participate!
Join us on ad-hoc trail care hikes, or sign up for free training to learn how to handle trail tools and maintain hiking trails to standards. With our wet summers, foliage grows rapidly and must always be cut back. If you love working outdoors, help us keep the trails clear for the public to enjoy.
We provide the training, the safety equipment, and some of the tools; you provide the time.
YES! I WANT TO VOLUNTEER! Provide your contact information and we'll send you information about volunteer opportunities on and off the trail.

Everyday Trail Care is an important part of our public mission. Florida Trail volunteers built and maintain nearly 2,000 miles of hiking trails throughout the state of Florida, from short nature trails such as the Bella Vista Trail at Washington Oaks State Park near Palm Coast to 40-plus mile backpacking loops at Myakka River State Park near Sarasota and the Citrus Tract, Withlacoochee State Forest. Part of the Florida Trail System, our local trails are primarily in Florida State Parks and Florida State Forests, enhancing the recreational opportunities available to visitors.
Each loop and side trail and section of the Florida National Scenic Trail is overseen by a trailmaster who puts together ad-hoc trail crews based on his or her needs. Check our Activities listings and the calendar at the lower right of this page to find out when the next ad-hoc trail maintenance crew in your area is headed out to the woods!
Jobs range from lopping branches to painting blazes to mowing and clipping ... there is something for everyone at every ability. Students, too, are welcome to join us to earn their community service credits!

F-Troop!
Join F-Troop! Spend a week or a weekend on tightly-focused team-building trail maintenance projects such as building bridges and boardwalks or cutting a new section of trail on public lands. While most F-Troop members are already Florida Trail members eager to share their trail and trail construction knowledge with you, F-Troop also provides an opportunity for out-of-state visitors to enjoy a volunteer vacation during the winter months. Our F-Troop trail crews run from October through April, prime hiking season in Florida.
Participation in F-Troop is free to all Florida Trail Association members. Participants receive free camping, training, use of tools and safety equipment, and home-cooked meals while enjoying the camaraderie of being part of a team tackling a major project.
Learn more...check out our F-Troop photo galleries, and watch the videos on YouTube!
